Today, Thursday, February 2nd, the Italian airport of Bologna G. Marconi remains temporarily closed due to extreme weather conditions, including heavy snowfall and gale force winds. According to the latest information available, the airport should reopen at 07:00 pm (local time). However, even if the airport reopens, severe flight disruptions are expected to continue overnight and tomorrow morning, February 3rd. Further spontaneous closures cannot be excluded. Rail and road transport are also severely disrupted due to the cold snap currently affecting Italy. According to forecasters, extreme weather conditions could last until February 10th.
Since last week, Europe is facing an extreme cold spill that has left already at least 80 people dead. Severe weather conditions trigger transport disruptions in various European countries.
Passengers travelling in and out Bologna are advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport and to contact their airline for further information.
